Liverpool Next Stop New York is a project investigating the huge impact that Black American music has had on the city of Liverpool and its people, and how it continues to do so to this day.

August 2015

A weekend long celebration at Sefton Park’s Palm House, as part of the Liverpool International Music Festival, was preceded by an accompanying exhibition in the city centre.

Using a number of platforms, two broad themes were explored:

• How Black American music found its way to Liverpool.

• The impact of this music, and how it was appropriated and expressed by the local population
